What is the Move-A-Thon? The Move-A-Thon is a traditional "A-Thon" where students raise money to spend an hour moving.Â
Why do we need to raise money? The PTA gives back to the school by supporting teachers in the classroom, helping with field trips, providing events such as family fun nights, Field Day, Fourth Grade Send Off, and more! Most of the events we host are free to families. The more we raise, the more we can provide back to the school. For full details on our budget, please attend a PTA meeting where the budget and actual expenses are routinely provided.
How does my student participate? Students can join the online fundraising platform by clicking the link above, joining their teacher's team, and sharing the link with friends. Students are also permitted to bring in cash or checks made out to the Margaret Ross Elementary PTA and give to the secretary or their teacher.
What happens the day of the Move-A-Thon? The morning of October 4th, students will be participating in the one hour event at the school. All students will be participating in the fun, even if they were not able to fundraise. In the afternoon, there will be an assembly to present the winners. Kona Ice will be provided to classes who have had at least 50% of the students fundraise, and finally a kickball game will be held with the class that had 100% of the students fundraise.
What if I cannot financially contribute? We understand not all families can contribute and that is perfectly fine! Feel free to reach out to the fundraising committee at fundraising@margaretrosspta.org to see how you can help in different ways. In some cases, if classes are close to the prize levels, sponsorships will be found for those students to assist the class in being successful.
Can I volunteer at this event? The PTA is always looking for volunteers for various events. The Move-A-Thon will need volunteers for the day of. The sign up will be sent out on Remind once final counts are made. Make sure you are a registered PTA member with clearances on file to be approved to volunteer.
Can parents watch the winners presentation? Yes! The presentation will be outside Margaret Ross Elementary at approximately 1:00pm. Parents are welcome to watch from a distance for both the winner presentation and kickball game. We ask that parents do not mingle with the students and teachers to maintain the integrity of the classrooms/teacher control over their students.
